Here are some of the highlights of the food we ate in Provence.

An incredible piece of cod from Le Chimerae in Aix-En-Provence.  The picture doesn't really do it justice.

Here is the dessert I had with this meal.   A Belgian waffle with peeled fruit, whipped cream, rasberry compote and pineapple ice cream.

At the Le Chimera James went for the Duck and Figs dish...

And I had the Sea bass "sandwich"  which was the best main course I had in provence

The best cheese I had in Provence.   A claim I do not make lightly since I had some cheese from the markets at least once a day for the  entire vacation.   This was from the fromagerie in Aix-en-provence.    It had such a strong ripe flavor.

"Tappas" appetizer from the Vieux Cafe in Cabrieres D' Avignon.  There were 8 different foods in this dish, each one more complex than the next from Vegetable soup to two different mouses: Salmon and carrot.

A close up of the stuffed tomato with baba ganoush.

A spectacular dessert from the Cafe Vieux.   The Tiara thingy was made out of carmel and was edible.

This is a close-up of the dessert "tappas" from the same restaurant.  It shows 3 rasberries on  cookie along with a rasberry flavored mashmellow.  There were 4 other desserts on this dish.

The appetizer from Cafe Leonardo was preceeded by an on-the-house opener of  tomato "cappuccino" and these fried zuccini sticks.  The "cappuccino" was actually this creamy tomato soup with steamed milk on top.

Both James and I had the salad here as it came with a medallion of foi grois and fresh shaved parmesian cheese

This pasta dish was from the only non-french meal we had on the trip.  It was from a very nice Italian restaurant called Cafe Leonardo.  This dish was pasta with fresh local porchini mushrooms.

This was the chocolate fondant from the same establishment.  It was superb.

The "desserts of the house" sampler from our hotel, the Boffroi.

This was the typical breakfast served in Aix and elsewhere.  Five Euros got you a Chocolate  Croissant small baguette or half baguette jelly, butter etc a small juice and coffee or hot chocolate.  Since we ordered 2 together it arrived at the table stacked up like this.

This is me eating one of the superb desserts from La  Chimera.  This was a Belgian waffle with freshe fruit, pineapple ice cream and  raspberry compote.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.... Le Macaron Chocolat I regret never having bought one of these.   The fact that they had "macaron" in the name is what kept me from eating one.   I later found out these had no coconut in them at all.  I guess I'll have to go back.

This is at the market in Vaison La Romaine.   Note the sign that reads  "2.60 Euros for 12 Pain Au Chocolat" for those keeping track at home that's a little more than $3.00 for a dozen.  The only thing that stopped me from buying a bag was the fact that I had just bought 2 large pieces of cheese and a tub of tappenade.
